One M8 update

Sprint updates the HTC One M8 to Lollipop

Sprint as announced the expected update to Android 5.0 Lollipop for the HTC One M8. Just a few days ago, Sprint and HTC updated their respective versions of the HTC One (M7) to the new OS 5.0 Lollipop, and now Sprint has done the same with the newest device, the One M8.

The new version has the built number 4.20.651.10, and it still keeps the Sense 6 running over Android 5.0 Lollipop. The changelos is not extremely explicit, as it just announces the upgrade to Android 5.0 and the removal of the Lumen Toolbar.

The update is rolling out in waves, so it might take a few days to reach your device. If you don’t wait to wait for it, you can try to download the file manually. You can check if there is any file ready for you to download from the “System updates” option that can be found under the “Settings” menu.

Once there, you just need to go to “HTC Software update” and tap on “Check now”. If the file is ready, you will find the option to “Download now”. As usual with this kind of major updates, the installation file is quite big, so be sure you are connected to a Wi-Fi network before starting the download.

If you want to know how the new OS looks running with Sense 6 on an HTC One M8 device, there is a video posted on Droid-life showing all the new features, such as the notifications on the lock screen, screen pinning, and a new quick toggles and notification pulldown.

Apparently, the update was set for next week, but Sprint has decided to start with the update a few days before. Good news for all the owners of an HTC One M8 from Sprint!
