HTC has just announced that the Sprint version of the HTC One (M7) is going to receive the OTA update to Android 5.0 Lollipop.
When Android 5.0 Lollipop was released, HTC announced that the update will come in 90 days for the One (M8) and the One (M7). It meant that both devices would be updated by the beginning of February.
Well, February is here and not all of those devices have received the promised update yet.
However, a Tweet from Moversi announced the long awaited news for the owners of a One (Sprint version): Android 5.0 is finally here.
On their website, HTC has posted the changelog. It’s not extremely detailed, but the main point is that the update brings the new software version.
· Android Lollipop 5.0 update.
· Lock screen and Notification: New Lollipop UI style with enhanced privacy features.
· Recent apps supports multiple pages.
· Added search function in Settings.
The update will bring the software to the version 6.16.651.2. It’s a major update, so it will take quite a long time to be ready (HTC says it will take about 20 minutes, so be patient). Make sure also you have enough battery and, when available, connect to a Wi-Fi network to download the file.
To check if the update is ready for your device, go to “Settings” an tap on “System updates”. Once there, go to “HTC software updates” and tap on “Check now”. If the file is ready, you can tap on “Download” and the process will start.
When the download is finished, you will get a notification to start the installation. If you tap on “OK”, relax for a while and wait until the phone restarts.
