Motorola has been testing Android 5.0.2 on several devices for the last couple of months, but finally the company has decided to skip this version and bring those devices to the last one available, Android 5.1.
So, if you have one of those devices still running Android 4.4. KitKat, don’t expect to get Android 5.0 anytime soon. Instead, you when you receive the notification of an update available, it will bring the software directly to Android 5.1.
A few weeks ago, an engineer at Motorola announced that the Droid Turbo will be updated directly to Android 5.1, so those devices are following the same steps. In this case, it has been the senior director of software product management at Motorola, David Schuster, who has made the announcement.
These are good news for all the owners of a Moto E, Moto G first edition with LTE and Moto X first edition. Unfortunately, Motorola hasn’t say a word about any possible timeline, so the update may come in the next days or it may take some weeks.
In any case, it’s coming, so keep an eye on the notifications and be ready to enjoy the more stable Android 5.1 Lollipop on you Moto devices.
