Droid Turbo will be updated directly to Android 5.1Lollipop

The Droid Turbo is a great smartphone, with top specifications and a huge battery. Verizon has the exclusive contract, and so far, the device still runs KitKat.

Android 5.0 Lollipop was released months ago, and the US carrier has finally announced that the Droid Turbo will be updated. However, the devices will skip this first version and will be upgraded directly to Android 5.1.

The news has been revealed by an engineer at Motorola, Luciano Carvalho, who announced that the device will go straight to Android 5.1 in order to take advantage of the HD Voice (VoLTE), native in this Android version.

Verizon updated the phone a few months ago with Advanced Calling 1.0, Verizon’s VoLTE implementation. Now, this feature will come native with Android 5.1, so this is problably the main reason to skip Android 5.0.
