HTC (M8) Update Delayed

After some days with no news, we have known that HTC cannot fulfill its commitment to update to Android 5.0 Lollipop in 90 days, as they promise.

Finally HTC confirm one thing that many HTC phone users feared was about happen. Over a year ago, shortly after the presentation of the HTC One, the Taiwanese company promised to update their main phones within a maximum period of 90 days, which encompassed within a program named HTC Advantage. Following this premise, the update for HTC One and the HTC One (M8) to Android 5.0 Lollipop should arrive no later than in early February, but it seems that eventually this will not be true for all versions.

The cause of this delay is no problem you had HTC (at least to our knowledge), but the company would rather walk past the quality that speed. It is well known that the first versions of Android 5.0 Lollipop presented more problems than might have been expected, so the Taiwanese manufacturer decided that the best choice was to wait until there was a more stable version and Google stopped to take small patches.

It should be remembered, because there are some versions that do already had this update a few weeks ago, but these are only available in the US and correspond to versions of unlocked developer and Google Play Edition. Moreover, from this week’s European HTC One (M8) are also receiving the update.

It is possible that the decision taken by HTC in this regard is the wisest within all the possible choices, since being a small company that cannot afford to rush spoil the excellent performance of their devices. So, considering that the update finally starts and move, you usually think it will not take much longer to get to all versions of the HTC One (M8) or HTC One.
