Verizon has just announced an OTA update for the Moto X (2nd Gen). A few days ago, Motorola announced the soak tests for the unlocked model of the device, a soon after, the update arrived to all the owners of a Moto X (2nd Gen) Pure Edition.
Verizon has worked hard and has just posted the notes for its version of the phone. After the update, the Moto X will run Android 5.0 Lollipop with the software version 22.21.11.
The new Android version will bring all the typical features of Android 5.0. Motorola has kept a version close to the “pure” version of Android released by Google with a few additions to improve the experience. In addition to the new Material Design, the lock screen, the new notifications (based on “interruptions”) and the new app switcher, Motorolas also gives the chance to choose between Moto Display or Google’s Ambient Display.
The update requires a 678.6 MB file, so make sure to be connected to a Wi-Fi network before starting the download. And remember that you need to have your battery at least 50% charged before the installation starts.
If you have already received the message to start the download, you just need to accept it by selecting “Yes, I’m in” and wait for the software to download the required file. Once the file is ready, the installation will start when you select “Install Now”. Your phone will restart automatically, running the new software version 22.21.11.
If you have not received the message yet, you can search for the update manually. To do so, you just need to go to the Settings icon and select “About phone”. Once there, look for “System updates” and tab on “Yes, I’m in”. The download will start immediately, and when it’s finished, you can select “Install now” to start the process. The phone will reboot automatically after finishing the installation and you will then start enjoying the new Android 5.0 Lollipop.
