Samsung has started to roll out an OTA update for the Galaxy Tab 10.5. The new version is Android 5.0.2 and it will be available for the WiFi version of the tablet (SM-T800).
The update is being released gradually, starting in France and spreading quickly to other countries (Canada has been confirmed).
As it it an OTA update, you will eventually receive an automatic notification when the update is available to download. Once you get the notification, just follow the instructions to download and install the file. As usual, be sure to have enough battery before starting the installation process.
If you don’t want to wait for the notification, you can always try to search for it manually. To do so, go to “Menu” and tap on “Settings”. Once there, go to “About device”, “Software update” and tap on “Update”. If the file is available, the download process will automatically begin. Once the installation is finished, the tablet will restart running Android 5.0.2 Lollipop.
If you prefer, you can also install the update from the KIES. The new firmware is T800XXU1BOCC, and can be downloaded from SamMobile.
The update has a build date of March 17 and a change list of 4403645. If you want to have an idea about how Android 5.0.2 Lollipop will look on your Galaxy Tab, Sammobile has posted a video showing the main features that come with the new version.
