Sprint updated for the Kyocera Hydro VIBE

An OTA update is available for the owners of a Sprint Kyocera Hydro VIBE. When this device was launched last May, it surprisingly reached the market running Android 4.3. Android 4.4 KitKat had been available for the previous seven months, but neither Kyocera nor Sprint looked very concerned about that.

Now, the American carrier has announced an OTA update for the Kyocera Hydro VIBE, which fixes some bugs and introduced some improvements. The company has not specify which Android 4.4 versions will be running, but at least, it will be KitKat.

The update is expected to be rather heavy, so it’s really advisable to find a Wi-Fi network before attempting to download the file. The new version (2.033SP) will include the support for Sprint’s Wi-Fi calling system, some enhancements to the Camera Auto Focus as well as to the video attachment (MMS) and an update to the email signature in the built-in email app.

If your device has not received the notification to access to the OTA update, you can already look for the update manually to download the file. Just remember to be sure to use the Wi-Fi network.

People with its device rooted, can expect some difficulties go get the update. On one hand, maybe the OTA update is not working, and you need to do the update manually. On the other hand, it’s possible that you lose your root privileges when you install the new versions. So, be sure it’s not a problem before starting the installation process. If that’s not you case, you can install it and start enjoying Android KitKat 4.4.
