A week ago, NVIDIA announced an OTA update for the SHIELD tablet (Wi-Fi version). Now, the company has move a step forward and has released the update for the LTE model. Both devices run now Android 5.0 Lollipop, with all the new features that the new version has brought to the tablet.

Android 5.0 has added a lot of new features to the tablet, such as notifications and animations inspired on Material Design, layer support and custom color creation and stencils in the Dabbler app. You will be able to access to full versions of over 20 games via streaming in the Shield Hub app and we should notice a general improved app performance.

The news appeared on a tweet from NVIDIA Tegra, where they highlight the fact that the SHIELD is the first US tablet running Android 5.0 Lollipop. The OTA has been released even before some of the Nexus tablet version had been upgraded to the new software.

You are going to receive the notification when the new version was ready for you device. However, if you don’t want to wait, you can always manually check if the new software is ready to download. Once you have the file, you can directly install it and start enjoying the new sweet Lollipop on your device.
