Pebble updates to version 2.3

Pebble has just released an update to version 2.3. Among other changes that the new release include, we can find the much expected support for Android Wear notifications. So, those are great news for Android Pebble users, as you can now reply and act on notifications directly from your watch.

The Pebble smartwatch started as a Kickstarter project in Abril 2012 and managed to raise over $10 million dollars. It has an e-ink display and works with Android and iOS. Pebble started to sent their watches in January 2013 and you can currently buy one on Amazon, Best Buy or directly from the Pebble’s website.

From now on, we can reply and act on the Android Wear notifications. However, we not only need to install the new app version, but also the new firmware for the Pebble. It should be running Firmware v2.9 to get the Android Wear support.

This is the full list of changes that we will find with the new app version:

Android Wear Notifications. Reply and act on Android Wear notifications.
Pebbler-defined replies. Set your own replies to notifications (up to 5, so get creative, buddy!).
Reply from Pebble using most Android-compatible SMS messaging apps
Automatic app and watchface updates when Pebble is idle.
Support for Android 4.0+ devices
Fixed Issues with Whatsapp notifications
UTF-8 support in PebbleKit JS
Bug fixes and stability improvements

You can find more information about the new version in the pebble’s FAQ site. Keep in mind that there are some features that you must enable manually as they are disabled by default, to prevent getting duplicate notifications.

You can download the app from the Play Store.
