HTC One (M8) gets Android 4.4.4 with Eye Experience


HTC launched officially the HTC One (M8 EYE) in China, and the company announced that the Eye Experience will reach the older One devices via update.

Under the term Eye Experience, HTC has included a lot of new features improving the camera features. Among others, there are an Auto-selfie function able to automatically take a photo with the front-facing camera, and the possibility to use voice commands to take a photo (“Say Cheese”) or to record a video (“Action”). There is also the interesting option to capture video from both cameras at the same time. HTC Eye Experience also improves the video chat, as the camera is now able to track our face to keep it in the frame.

The company announced that the full set of One devices will receive this software enhancements through a future software update. The list of devices that are going to received the update are the HTC One (M7), HTC One (M8), HTC One (E8), HTC One mini, HTC One mini 2, HTC One Remix, HTC One Max, HTC Desire 612, and HTC Desire 816.

The expected update has already been released in some places in Europe for the HTC One (M8), and it will probably spread in the next weeks to the rest of the countries. The new version is 3.28.401.6, and it will come together with the update to Android 4.4.4.

Anyway, if you want to see the enhancements just now, there is a full download available at the XDA Developers forum. And be sure to use the Wi-Fi connection before start the download, as the OTA comes in a 252 MB file.
