G3 Lollipop OTA

European LG G3 receives an OTA update to Lollipop

LG was the first manufacturer to announce the OTA update to Lollipop for their flagship device, the LG G3. This first update was only released on Polland, and it’s spreading all over Europe.

The internationa model D855 is the one receiving the OTA update to Android 5.0 Lollipop. It’s not the latest improved version 5.0.1 but the original one. So you can expect to have some issues, which will be soon fixed when LG announced the next update. The new number is LRX21R with LG software version V20e.

The US version of the phone is not ready yet. If you are a owner of a US G3, you still need to wait for the approval of the US carriers, which may take a little longer.

European carriers have announced the update officially, and you can get the new version either though an OTA update, which is rolling out gradually, or by installing the file manually. To do so, you need to install first the PC Suite software from LG. From there, you can download and install the file.

Keep in mind that it’s a major update, so you need to download a heavy file. Be sure to use a Wi-Fi network or use the computer if you have no Wi-Fi available to start the download. Once the phone restarts, you will be ready to start enjoying Android 5.0 Lollipop.

You can expect to find the new features that came with the new sweet version, such as the unlocking screen, the recent apps, a real multiuser mode and the new priority system for the notifications (with the do not disturb mode).
