LG G Pad 8.3 Google Play Edition is getting an update to Android 5.0 Lollipop. If you are the owner of one of those devices, keep an eye on your notifications and you will see the update available soon.
The LG G PAD 8.3 GPE is a 8.3-inch tablet with an IPS Full HD display. It has a 1.7 GHz quad-core Snapdragon 600 processor, 2 GB of RAM, and 16 GB of internal storage with support for microSD cards. It was released on December 2013 and received the update to Android 4.4.4 before summer.
The new versions will bring all the typical features you can expect from Android 5.0 Lollipop. The G Pad will have Material Design, lock screen notifications and the new battery saving mode.
The new sofware will be rolling out in waves, so it may actually take a while to reach your device. If you don’t want to wait for the notification, you can always update it manually. To do so, just tab on the option to “Check for Updates” on the Settings menu. After the file has been downloaded, you can install it with a single tab.
The update file is about 400MB large, so be sure to use a Wi-Fi network to download it. Before the installation actually starts, check the battery life. Remember that you need at least 50% of the battery charged.
If you need any more information or cannot get the file, the update has been posted on XDA Developers, so you can just check everything from their forum.
